I had a great time at the Minnesota State Fair yesterday. Our fair is really an event, drawing over a million people every year. In 2008, 1,693,533 people attended - Texas is the only other state with this size of fair with this kind of attendance. I have been told fair promoters from other states actually come to ours for ideas.
By a landslide, the food is the biggest draw. You can pretty much find anything you can conceive of. It is a day of gluttony at its finest. Yesterday, I ate (here we go I'm about to embarrass myself) a corn dog, corn fritters, hush puppies, french fries, olives on a stick and a cream puff. I can assure you, I am feeling it today!
Every time I go to the fair, I MUST have corn fritters. They are served with honey butter and to die for.
Sandra and I really did the fair - we ate, we went through the animal barns, the grandstand, the bazaar, the midway, the horticulture building and I am fairly certain we walked down every street. Sandra was in political heaven getting to talk to Amy Klobuchar asking her why she was waffling on public health care. For fair photos, visit Sandra's Blog.
Also...I got a call back on a job and I've been hired! I start September 21st!
Last night I went to the Randy Travis concert - what a great show! He is a wonderful entertainer and I love his music. Joe Nichols opened for him and I thought he was really good too.
So, this has been a good week!
