Cats and Dogs Shacking Up

I know lots and lots of cats and dogs live together in basic harmony, but the sheer number of them here (6 dogs, 5 cats) makes the dynamic much more obvious.

Sometimes things are not really all that fine. This is Herman’s get-away-from-my-human warning. He can be attention jealous when in the house. These faces only last about a half a second but he gets the message across pretty well.

Down at the barn he can be very tolerant.

Unless Hudson is bored, she is also very tolerant and has even been caught licking kittens. But, she's also been caught with kittens whole heads in her mouth too.

These cats just LOVE the dogs...and for the most part, everyone gets along fine.

Unless Herman gets annoyed and Hudson gets bored...then all bets are off. The kittens have learned NOT to run. When they run they get chased, when they don't run they get enticed to run.

Fortunately, they are easy to call off and it's very easy to divert attention.

And the gator ride to the barn takes a little energy out of them too...

I don’t want anyone to think Hermie is a jerk. He pretty much has this goofy grin on his face all the time and he is a very, very nice dog. He just hates cats…I can’t really blame him for that.
Tonight's my last night. We went on a super long gator ride today and tomorrow we are going horseback riding. Right now I have Spot on my right snoring very loudly, Herman and Monty under my feet all sacked out, Huddy on my left and Pouncer (the cat) half in my lap.
I can't say I won't miss it!
