Where I was then and now

On 9/11 I was driving to work and heard the Pentagon had been bombed. I called my Mom (she used to work in the Pentago) and told me there was no way the Pentagon could be bombed. Essentially she was right. No one planned to suicide plane crashers, I guess.

Today I awoke to everyone barking their heads off. I'm pretty sure there were some hunters on the property because I heard shots earlier. I hear it's dove season right now. I'll have to mention it as I know they only let a few people hunt here and one of them is out of town.

Hudson and Herman were pretty pissed...I'm pretty sure this was not an animal everyone freaked out over. In either case, I let them out to figure things out and went back to bed. Last night we had a freak out over an animal, annoying to me but that's what dogs do. Herman and Hudson didn't care one bit.

Today Monty decided to chase a foal. That was really really dumb and he found out right away. The mare kicked him, he was flung a bit and cried for a bit but he is fine. Heelers are very tough and that's a good thing because they get themselves in trouble! Hopefully he has learned from this mistake, perhaps next time I scream his name in fear he will believe me.

Moose and Hudson had a skirmish over the gator. I think it was who was getting in when. Moose should know better to back down to Hudson. He has known her the whole year and a half of his life. Moose is twice her size but Huddy is a scrapper and she doesn't fight fair. Moose lost the fight along with a little blood but he is also just fine. It was over before I could grab the hose.

Today I emptied a couple of tanks to scrub and refill. There are no automatic waterers here for a reason. The reason being so we know how much everyone is drinking. More work but I think it's a good idea. Besides, you have to check automatic waterers every day too. I am proud of myself for timing things right and not watering any pastures. Usually I do a lot of pasture watering when I fill tanks.

We took three gator rides today. The result is a lot of tired dogs. This is a good thing, it makes for quiet nights. I think I will keep this up.

Here are some random photos from today:

Tired puppy.

Comatose Herman.

Monty wants to follow but is afraid to get out of the gator.

Get out of the way, mini-Norm.

Welcome back, the 15 minutes you were gone was excruciating...
