Now I'm Watching Parelli Videos

So, at work, I have a stack of over 15 horse videos to watch - or at least FF through.

It is so interesting that I finally get a job, and then part of it is viewing horse videos. How weirdly perfect and ironic.

About 5 or 6 of these are Parelli videos. I haven't started watching them yet but it should be interesting.

Normally when I watch videos, I spend more time listening and a lot of time responding to emails and actually getting work done. In reality, if I sat and only watched videos, I'd a) be very unproductive b) be very bored and c) probably not have a job at the end of the year due to reason "a."

Every now and again I get annoyed. For example, I was just given two DVDs called "Horse Care Basics" 1 and 2. These DVDs cover all the basics you can think of, however, in my ever humble opinion don't cover them very well. Besides a host who likes to hang on his horse's head while he talks, to starting off bathing with a blast to the barrel - they really don't speak to someone who needs "Horse Care Basics" 1 and 2. They talk about all the stuff we already know, but don't teach it to someone who actually doesn't know.

I do not like the safety issues that come up again and again. It's my pet peeve. I think if you teach something, you should take responsibility for what you teach and, to some extent, the perceptions of your teaching.

Either way, these (2) DVDs are $125 - so I am told by the person who bought them. I almost fell out of my cube. There are $20 books out there with the same quality information.

Today I got annoyed listening to the detailed training of a trainer who lays horses down when they start colts. Okay, I know this works, but it's risky on many levels not to mention extremely dangerous to teach others to do! I can just see someone taking notes...first, loop rope around front leg...

Just in case anyone is wondering, this method works especially well on "vicious" horses. So be rest assured, all those with these vicious beasts will be able to train them. (note dripping sarcasm)

Anyway Back To Being Positive...I have a really cool job that I love...despite being forced to watch personal pet peeves over and over again. :) Nothing can ever be 100% perfect...

Ah, I forgot to mention my cube. I love my cube...really and truly. I have drunk the kool-aid and am basking in the glory of a comfortable workspace. I am in a corner so I only have two neighbors - who are really nice people and great neighbors.

My boss is great, I like the company, upper management seems really decent and ethical, it's the right kind of work for me and at the right speed, level of creativity and workload.

Here's to hoping I'm not jinxing myself with positive happiness.
AND tomorrow someone is cooking dinner for me!
