It's Good Even From Here

Last Saturday I went to a Twins game at the Metrodome that was a ton of fun. I was going to blog about it on Sunday but then I read the newspaper and forgot about my fun on Saturday.

We did not have tickets to the game but really wanted to go...it was slated to be the last or second-to-last of the season. So we picked some up on the street. It would have been nice to have closer seats but $75 per ticket to a guy selling on a street corner is sort of sketchy and too big of a bummer should he be a scammer. (Scalping is now legal in MN however, so it is a little better than it used to be.)

So, this is what $25 per ticket gets a person, last minute before the game on the street.
I can say for sure I've never sat up this high in any stadium so it was a new experience. I had a little bit of fear going up, up, up but I was helped greatly by a soft pretzel and a double whisky-seven.

Hey, we do what we can with what we are given.

I felt super bad for the people sitting behind the pillars. In my opinion, they shouldn't even have seats there. I be they would make more money with vendor stands selling peanuts and beer.
So, this is what the top of the metrodome looks like. It's a big bubble...we are going to outdoor baseball next year with a new stadium. I understand the want to sit outside and watch baseball but seriously, this is Minnesota. The people that built the metrodome 28 years ago might not have done a great job with ease of use, but they knew what they were doing when it comes to weather here.
We usually had a great view of home plate except for when this guy stood up. I think he might have been impaired somehow.
The angle was actually really nice too. Paul could see all the pitches and call them before the ump. I'm the type that has to wait for it to show up on the screen. It doesn't matter if I'm in the front row, like last time, or if I'm far away.
It was a great game! Tonight the Twins played Detroit and we won in the 12th inning 6-5. Kind of a nail biter. The teams were well matched. I kind of feel bad for Detroit, the comment was made they really needed the win. Their economy is in the toilet and it would have been nice for them to have something to cheer for.

Tomorrow we play the Yankees in their stadium where we will get creamed.

I love baseball!
