Skol

Another busy weekend come and gone.

I am feeling 100% better by the way – I’m pretty sure my quick little “illness” was not the flu.

Last night I went out to eat in Dinkytown. I asked the waitress what their house wine was and she replied, “Chardonnay, merlot, cabernet and white zinfandel.” It was Sutter Home, which is a fine-enough-for-me utility wine.

It was probably inappropriate to ask in a restaurant whose main clientele is college kids and serves food like this:
I especially like the attempt at health with the “salad.”

On Friday I went to the card party I go to every few months. I made cayenne peanut butter cookies.
Most people liked them but some weren’t super into them. I put red sprinkles on them and put them on a red plate as sort of a “warning.” They are different – they taste like a peanut butter cookie with heat at the end. I like them.

I brought a new wine too…I like to buy wine if it has a picture of a horse on it. This was good.
Meet Sid.
He likes to be the life of the party and he also has his own Facebook page.

Today I went to my first NFL football game: The Vikings vs the Ravens. We won 33-31.

Football fans are a whole different kind of fan than baseball fans. Vikings fans like to wear horns.

Or they do weird things with their hair.
Or this
The game was extremely loud…I’m told the metrodome is especially loud because it’s a bubble…here’s a sample.

I’m really glad I went, it was a lot of fun! Although I still like baseball way better and I really don’t understand all the rules in football. The energy of the crowd is pretty fun – and the players interact with the crowd a lot more than in baseball…noise is a big part of football.

Players get hurt a lot too. Being there made me think of what the Roman Coliseum must have been like. I wonder if the Romans had little side acts like cheerleaders and spectator challenges.

End of the day, my verdict on football games is this: I could go again but not soon. If someone bought me tickets or if I won them again, I'd go and I'd want to tailgatge. I'm pretty sure alcohol would make it more fun, kind of like family functions. Otherwise I think I've had my football fix for a while.
