I'm not a super huge fan of the holidays. I've gotten more and more distasteful of them. I don't have the typcial big midwestern family to spend them with, nor a significant other. Tomorrow, Thanksgiving will last about 2 hours and then I will have nothing to do all night. We do not celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas Day is the same drill, add a half hour for gifts.
All of my friends have big family things that they do. This year sucks especially because the guy I was seeing told me he did not want to see me anymore. Granted, I was not happy with the way he'd been acting, but I wasn't thinking it was worth sacking all together. We got along really well.
On a more positive note, I've found another place to go to trivia! We went to an Irish restaurant/bar (great food) called Merlin's Rest and they had the same guy that used to do trivia at the Dubliner.
This is not fancy-computer-some-idiot-who-doesn't-get-the-point-is-cheating-on-their-cell-phone trivia. (I can't even believe people do that.)
The prizes are beer mugs and it's free to play. The question-caller/organizer is a professor from Macalester who is also British. I think he's super funny and I love the themes and questions.
You get paper, a pencil and no more than four to a team. Pretty much like school, only at the bar over a pint of beer. He even grades and hands them back. It's never been quieter in an Irish Pub like when this guy is reading questions. :)
Tonight is the biggest bar night of the year but I'm not in the mood to go out and I think I drank enough last weekend to last quite a while.
Happy Thanksgiving!
