If Cats Could Dance

My cat would be dancing tonight! I was gone ALL WEEKEND and my cat has been beside herself.

I know I'm at risk for sounding like a Krazee Kat Ladee but I think I'm already certifiable seeing as how I've been trapping cats and paying to have them fixed.

Anywho, some people think cats don't miss people or that they like to be alone. So not true! This I have learned after having a cat that lives in my house for the past 11 years (she is actually 14, I adopted her when she was 3).

She comes to the door when I come home and is now slumped against me demanding attention.
Yes, that is a paw reaching out at the camera.

This cat has really been nice to have around all these years. I got her at the Humane Society. She had a litter of kittens there too. I wish I would have gotten to see the kittens. But, at the time, I was on a mission to adopt a cat and get out of the HS without balling my eyes out or taking home more than one. I literally walked into one room, picked up the first cat I saw and left. I figured a cats a cat.

Probably not true.

We had to work through a couple of things. She used to be a little nippy. I found that holding her mouth open was what stopped that. She also had a urinary tract infection about 6 years ago that required new food and a little bit of behavior modification after the fact. No big deal, nothing was too expensive or ruined and all is good now!

I think of the people that give up perfectly good animals (such as this one) for stupid reasons like those. A little bit of common sense and try is all that's required sometimes. Animals are not machines, they will be inconvenient at times.

The only thing I would change is that I would have gotten two cats had I known how lonely they can get. I can leave her for a night by herself but more than that and she gets super sad/lonely. Doesn't destroy anything but she'll have food issues. So, when I'm gone for a weekend she goes to "grandma's."

Anywho, if cats could dance this one would have been moonwalking.
