Farm Sitting

Farm sitting is 100% different than house sitting. Chores are just that and start very early in the morning, the house isn't really an issue. I am burning a gazillion calories this week.
So I have cows and shit and horses and shit and goats and shit. And shit.

I’m lucky the horses are all really well mannered and the cows require almost no work unless one has a problem. In that case, I call the “cow guy.”

I have a great companion, she’s my chores sidekick and she also likes to watch the driveway. I like to think she’s watching out for me but she’s probably just waiting for her people to come home.
Because this is a working farm, there are also horses to keep legged up. So I’m doing chores in addition to riding. Can’t say I have done this in a very long time! Wow, not a life says I. I think I can do one or the other but not both, by myself. It makes sense this couple can get things done because they have each other!

When I was a teenager and into my early twenties I could really work. I could do chores and ride and chores and ride and chores. I could go like that from 5:00am until 11:00pm as long as I could eat a couple times in there I was good to go to turn it around and do it again the next day!

Now, I have to drag myself into the saddle because my back hurts, my trigger point in my shoulder is acting up, and my knee is becoming a problem again. I know I’m being a big huge baby by whining about it but it’s my blog and I’ll whine if I want to. I’m not whining to anyone else!

This all makes me feel old, I’m doing half the work I used to do and I’m tired! One thing I can say I am thankful for, is I MISS the feeling of going to bed tired! I love lying down and being asleep almost instantly, I almost never do that anymore. So this is actually quite good for me!

And these animals really aren't bad companions either.
But it’s still a lot of shit!
