So my long awaited Montana trip is fast approaching. We are SUPPOSED to leave on Thursday.
This weekend one friend emailed to say that she might not be able to make it due to some childcare finding issues. Her husband was supposed to be with the kids but now it’s looking like he can’t do the whole weekend.
Then I spoke with my other travel partner today and she is saying she might not be able to take the time off of work. Not only that, but if she can go, she can’t leave until 5ish on Thursday. That puts us getting into town at about 3:00 in the morning or a little later.
I think I can rally for the late night driving, but I’ll have to start staying up late this week in order to make that happen. I NEVER stay up that late anymore. My body doesn’t like it.
So, there is a chance I’ll be going to MT alone. What a bummer! I will be meeting friends there so I won’t be totally alone but this would be way more fun with friends along the way.
I’ve done the drive to and from MT more times than I can count so the 10 hours it takes is really not the issue. They are willing to pay their parts of the hotel so that is not the issue either.
The issue is that I’m not going to MT to MEET people. Inevitably I will meet some people but I’m not going there for that reason. I’m going to hang out with friends and be entertained by people getting bucked off horses all day long and doing other stupid things.
They really let the town off the chain for this event. It’s a hoot.
The food is good, the people are nice, the alcohol is cheap and there is always something to do.
So, today I’m bummed out, contemplating a long drive by myself. I’ll have to put my ‘self-reflection’ hat on for this.
Or maybe I’ll just leave early in the morning and take a long time to get there by garage saling the whole way. All the while using minutes on my cell phone by calling everyone I know.
Enough whining…Just Jules is doing what I would call an art project where answerers to the start of the phrase "I am" put a photo in white paper on their blogs. I love stuff like this!
So, here’s my answer.
I really am TRYING.
