I am happy to say that as of January 4th I will be a full time bona fide Video Development Coordinator at the company I work for.
This is so cool because I love my job, my boss is great and the company is really good to their employees (benefits, time off, etc.)
I am also super proud of myself because I came out of salary negotiations well. The first figure they offered was a little lower than I expected and I successfully negotiated them up 11% AND got an extra week of vacation AND kept my full bonus! I have never done this before and I am so happy that I did!
I have to say I was tipped off in that I could negotiate. My boss was not the one to set up the meeting or offer me the job - I dealt entirely with HR. I took that as a tip to negotiate - because I know my boss would not want to negotiate with me directly - even though she is the one that sets the pay.
Spending time around all those horse traders actually paid off!
So, I have three weeks of vacation - I probably won't get to use it all given this is my first year and I don't want to spend that much time away my first year.
This time next year I am going someplace warm though. That is a sure thing.
This kind of a break has been a long time coming for me. I feel like I can move on with my life and do the things I want to do.
I'm not rich but I love the stability.
Today the President/CEO of our company took a bunch of us on the "social committee" (yes I joined the social committee) out to lunch at a nice steakhouse via limousine. Very generous of him and super fun! A great way to get face time with him too.
